Blade and Soul might benefit the PS3 even more than Killzone 2 or God of War III.

First, a short trailer just so we’re all up to date. It’ll only take a minute. I promise.

(Seven awesome minutes later...)
That, my fellow gamers, is Blade and Soul. It’s an MMO. No, you read correctly, it’s an MMO. Yes, that was in-game footage. No, I have no clue what kind of black-magic server it’s running on. Is this game going to be a WoW-killer? I’m sorry, you’re going to have to refresh my memory, what is WoW again?

The Hard Facts:
Fact 1: The game has not yet been officially announced for the PS3.
Fact 2: The game is being developed by NCsoft.
Fact 3: Back in E3 2007, Sony revealed a deal with NCsoft to produce new titles exclusively for the PS3.
Fact 4: On July 31 2008, during the yearly NCmedia day, NCsoft announced Blade & Soul.
Fact 5: Sony has often emphasized that the PS3 is the best platform for MMOs, much better than its rivals the 360 and the *cough* Wii.
Fact 6: The game is running on the Unreal Engine 3, an engine we know the PS3 is capable of handling.
Fact 7: NCsoft has shown that it’s comfortable with Buy-2-Play MMO with its release of Guild Wars back in 2005. Buy-2-Play (B2P) means that once you buy the game, you can play it for life, no monthly subscription fees needed. This kind of system would go hand in hand with the PS3 and its free online service.
Fact 8: The martial art combat style of this game, combined with the Dualshock 3, would be freaking awesome.

OK, maybe the last one wasn’t so much fact as pure excitement, but you get the point. If NCsoft manage to pull it off, this game might not just revolutionize MMOs on consoles, it might revolutionize MMOs altogether. If you need me to explain why, I suggest you take another look at the trailer, this time preferably with your glasses on.

it's wishfull thinking that a mmo will be good ona consoles. MMo's are long term games. What happens when xbox 360 and ps3 no longer gets uspported?

Yeah, I'm really excited for this game but I'll never be able to run it on a computer. I really want this to come to the PS3.

Oh, and I think I remember one point, someone from NCsoft had interest in bringing this game to the PS3. I heard it from someone else, so I'm not completely sure. I really hope so, though, this game looks really amazing.

Well sony has a good track of supporting their systems. I mean the ps2 is still selling and it almost 10 years if not more.
